Festival-week traffic — mada streets
On Therottam and Arupathimoovar the four mada streets become a pedestrian precinct. Expect bus diversions, no parking at the tank, and police deployment from E1 Mylapore. This is seasonal, not a one-off alert — it returns every Panguni (last held 23 March–1 April 2026).
Thirumayilai metro construction
Chennai Metro’s underground Thirumayilai station (Yellow / Purple lines, under construction) sits in Mylapore. Related works also affect Mandaveli and Kutchery Road. Treat lane cuts and utility digging as a multi-year condition, not a weekend closure. Confirm diversions on the CMRL / traffic-police notice of the day.
